I continue to see a complete lack of empathy for others

I recently joined the nextdoor app to see what was going on in my neighborhood. Similar to this forum, all people are doing is getting in pissing contests. The one thing I have noticed is the "you must wear a mask and you must stay home" crowd could give a flying fuck about anyone but themselves. They consistently try to steer the narrative that anyone that isn't on board with them is ignorant and selfish, but not once do any of them acknowledge the hardship their beliefs are putting on others that are out of work and less fortunate than them. And of course, they'll never address the question as to how long this needs to go on to those that ask. They'll just give some generic answer like "as long as it takes". Simply a one way conversation that is all about them.

Agree!

They have an agenda and it doesn’t involve Making America Great or using Common Sense!

That's life, the party of "compassion" is really a coalition of special interests, they are the party of "me".

They call us angry, when they're intolerant and they riot and protest and scream in faces and destroy their neighbors' property and burn flags

They think about themselves, then call us selfish. The truth is I'm never concerned about me, I'll find a way to make it work, but I'm more concerned about the greater good for other people

The world is upside down, I blame democratic leaders and their criminal corrupt colluding always lying media

Next door cracks me up. The people who live in the “elite areas” crack me up as they feel entitled to the others.

Same in our Nextdoor and neighborhood fb groups. There is still a silent majority...like myself.
But I’m guessing there is a lot of ticking time bombs.

It is interesting that some people are more than willing to put differences aside and find common ground; while other people never make any attempt to ever do that. Even more interesting is that the people who never do it almost always blame other people for their complete lack of empathy.

It's funny how Trumptards think telling women what to do with their bodies is their god given right. But if someone tells them to wear a damn mask cause getting coughed on could kill them, it's selfish and rude.

Bunch of idiots.

You are a dope. My body my choice is a retarded feminist argumentt. It is not about telling women what to do with their body. I'll punch you in the face. My body my choice, right?

Ironically if anyone wants to control the argument about abortion/children it is women who want all the control

Don't try to argue a point for pro life with a left wing liberal......they give the most hypocritical answer with "my body, my choice".

They don't consider the choice of whether that child inside their body wants to live.

Keep in mind, our rules are nothing like New York's. But we have one guy on the app that is watching and making notes of how many times his neighbors leave (which isn't against any rules) and rants on the site about it. There are a variety of people that demand that people wear masks and stay home. And anyone that challenges them are called selfish and told they only care about themselves. I've enjoyed turning that around and pointing it right back at them. The thing that's nice about these neighborhood apps is you know exactly what area these people live in. Of course the ones that are the most vocal are in the most affluent areas (as mentioned by Knightrolins) and I think it's more than apparent they can afford to be off of work for awhile and aren't hurting financially (or are retired). Maybe we can do a "Trading Places" with some of these people and see how vocal they are when the shoe's on the other foot and they don't know where their next meal is coming from. Almost seems like that's what's needed to take place for them to realize the impact of people being out of work, and the mental depression that goes with that and the threat of being evicted and losing whatever net worth they have. I'm so sick of these one sided conversations.

I think they are looking at it very rationally.....If shutting down the economy or restricting a lot for half a year or a year ensures my family lives. Yes. I think any rational human being would say that is a small price to pay.

This is the issue Mob. You’re being very over dramatic. You aren’t dying from this. That’s the point.

Facts.

Selfish because they want their family to be safe? Haha try to take their guns away and they’ll call you a communist. Typical right wing extremist tactic

Could be that many of your neighbors (ffs....a Nextdoor "political" forum thread has to be at least 3 levels closer to the broiling level of internet Hades) are emulating the POTUS

Since formation of the "Coronavirus Task Force" Tiny has tweeted 1596 times. Lots about what a great job he's doing and his ratings. But not a single one about acknowledging the dead and dying.

And hyperbole like this is exactly the problem (not surprising coming from you). More like stay home, stay safe, starve, and eventually be evicted or lose a significant amount of net worth. There you go...fixed it for ya. Two sides to this argument, but the side I mention is one people like you will never address as it's only a monotone issue for you. And just another reminder....the virus isn't a death warrant. Never has been despite the sensationalism of the media.
